Go to Manage game & add-ons, then scroll down to Save Data. Highlight the saved data for your Gamertag, then choose the Delete Everywhere option.

When you've got a chance can you try using a different first and last name for your player to see if that makes any difference at all? Let me know if the progress still isn't saving after that.

I have done a different name and different position, and still kicked me back to the start. It’s very frustrating, and makes it impossible to enjoy that mode.
