1. Scout

I'll admit, I used to hate scouting. In the super old days of PlayStation 2 Madden, I had no problem scouting, but once the series went next-gen (for back then)... I don't know what happened. Honestly, I would say that it wasn't until Madden NFL 12 or so that I really started to get back into the scouting aspect in franchise mode.

2. Identify your needs

Why is identifying your needs after scouting, you ask? You probably think I'm crazy, but just hear me out here. I promise this makes some degree of sense.

3. Know when to hold 'em..

When you scout enough guys, you start seeing the prospects that really jump out grade and attribute wise. You found a defensive back with A speed and A- hit power? Awesome! A quarterback with A+ arm power and B- acceleration? Michael Vick in Madden 04 is about to look like Jared Lorenzen in Madden 10.

4. ...and know when to fold

As soon as you saw that Ravens logo, that should have been a perfect indication that things were going downhill. I got tempted with my second-to-last pick with the Baltimore Ravens, saw a quarterback with great throw power and speed, and thought he would be a gem pick.

5. Experiment

I have a guilty habit I need to admit to: I scout more guys projected to go in rounds six and seven -- plus guys who are likely to go undrafted -- then I do players projected to go in rounds three through five.

What is the goal of Draft Young?

8. Draft young. Your goal is to create a dynasty, not to win one championship and then fade into the oblivion.

Can an NFL team have a poor offensive line?

Throughout NFL history, no team has ever succeeded with a poor offensive line. However, at the same time, star offensive linemen demand more money than any other position; and a team can easily be financially crippled by throwing the bank at a single member of an offensive line. Therefore, avoid top tier linemen such as Joe Thomas, and instead look for a lower rated tackle with a high upside such as Joe Staley. After all, success on the offensive line is about the unit, not the individual.

Is Madden the best video game ever made?

If you are a fan of the NFL, the chances are that you play Madden. For the remote few of you who may not be familiar with the game, Madden is the popular video game series that carries the namesake of former NFL Head Coach and Announcer, John Madden. While the matter is certainly up for debate, most sports fans would likely consider Madden 2009 to be the greatest sports video game ever made.

Is it better to draft in the second round or first round?

Instead, draft the core of your team in the second round, where the talent is almost just as good but the price tag is incredibly less than that of their previously mentioned contemporaries. This technique will allow you to build up your depth, create a solid youthful foundation for your team, and maintain financial stability throughout your tenure as a Madden general manager.

Can you lose a game in Madden if you don't score a point?

Simply stated, you can’t lose the game if your opponent doesn’t score a point. In my Madden franchise, I went all-out on drafting the perfect defense; and since then I have shut my opponent out in all but two games, and I have yet to lose at all. Even if you have no offense, a great defense will usually win the game for you.

Is drafting a quarterback bad for Madden?

Drafting a star quarterback is the biggest mistake someone can make in Madden. Not only do they command way too much money, but also the lowest-rated quarterbacks can excel with the pieces around them, if the chemistry is right. Hey, just look at Matt Cassel last year. In my Madden franchise, I drafted Kevin O’Conell as my quarterback in the final round of the draft, and he has since bloomed into the league MVP. Plus, he is signed for the next seven years at only about $3 million a season.

How often should I practice Madden 17?

In Madden NFL 17 that may not be the smartest decision, and I strongly urge you to practice every single week. Not only does practicing give some of your players boosts going into their next game, it also allows you to study the opponent's strategy.

How to run up to line of scrimmage in Madden?

If you successfully run a play, simply hold in the "Y" or "Triangle" button on your controller. The players will quickly run up to the line-of-scrimmage and you will be able to pick a play from a handful of options.

What are the most common mistakes people make in Madden?

One of the most common mistakes people make in Madden is throwing an interception deep down the field. This can mostly be avoided if you read the safety and throw the ball away from him. There are two safeties in the game of football, and they usually line up in the middle of the field and sit in the back of the defense. Their job is to read the quarterback and make a play on the ball, whether it's breaking up a pass, intercepting the ball, making a tackle, or even blitzing the quarterback.

What is the goal of a defender in Madden?

A defender's main goal is to keep the offense out of the endzone, but guarding deep passes can break that. When the ball is in the air, you need to quickly address the situation and act accordingly.

What is the main takeaway of Madden?

You will also be able to take an in-depth look into team rosters, and which players would be the most useful in specific situations. 1. CLOCK MANAGEMENT. advertisement. The main takeaway for any Madden game is the clock. Managing the clock can be the difference between you winning or losing a game.

What happens if the clock goes to zero in Madden?

It's there to keep the offense moving and to keep the game going. If the play clock ever reaches zero, then the offense will be penalized. But you can also use it to your advantage. Quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning have used the play clock to their advantage many times and have actually won games by doing so. In Madden, it is no different and you can totally use it to your advantage like the pros do.

How to change camera view in Madden?

What most players don't know is that you can change the camera view on-the-fly with the D-pad. Up and down are the two buttons on the D-pad that control the camera and this can be useful to a lot of people.

QUARTERBACK

The method I use most often is the Good O-Line, Crappy QB method. Unless you have a top pick, you’re just not getting anyone worth having.

RUNNING BACK

You shouldn’t draft a running back. You should just wait, wait, wait. Seriously, wait, and add one from free agency. But these are the best options if you just can’t help yourself and simply must draft one. But don’t do it.

WIDE RECEIVER

As the years go on and your franchise progresses, you’ll absolutely be able to pull together a decent amount of wide receivers via the draft. There’s a lot of talent to develop. But you need at least one of these guys to lead your WR corps into the future.

OFFENSIVE LINE

There will be a healthy amount of offensive line options deep into the draft, and you can always shift them around without taking a big statistical hit. These men, however, should last you nearly a decade and be elite doing it. The best part is that you should be able to draft all of them no matter where your starting pick ends up being.

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS

Adding a couple of these studs on your squad should anchor your defense for years to come. Of course, if you have a top 15 overall pick, you can get the gold standard in Luke Kuechly, then build from there.

What is the most important phase of Madden?

In Madden NFL, Drafting is regarded as the most important phase of the game. Your progress in a season is determined by the players you select in the draft to add to your team.

How to change a player's value in NFL?

Simply go to Manage Roster , select NFL Roster, and then find the player you’re looking for. Select Edit Player and change him to a punter. This reduces the player’s value. Now you can easily trade. You can recover the value by reverting the edit after the trade.

How to pass a cornerback in the NFL?

In passing situations, pick a cornerback with a higher speed rating, late in the draft and deploy the dime formation. Blitz the quarterback on the inside with the speedster.

Who is Judy in the NFL?

Judy is a wide receiver with speed and agility on his side. So, if you want a player who can outrun his opponents, this is the guy to go with because one of his strongest attributes is running after a catch.

Can a quarterback shine?

The lowest-rated quarterbacks, on the other hand, can shine when surrounded by the right components.
